SarcomaThe Sarcoma Institute at Menorah Medical Center was established to treat tumors and tumor-like conditions of the musculoskeletal system. Malignant tumors of bone and soft tissues are known as Sarcomas and are derived from tissues that make up the connective tissues or structural supportive tissues of the body. This includes bone, muscle, fat, nerves, blood vessels, and cartilage. They can arise from any location in the body and all age ranges can be afflicted with the disease. While sarcomas are considered very rare cancers, approximately 11,000 Americans are diagnosed with the disease each year. This represents 1 percent of all cancers in the United States. However among children, sarcoma represents 15 to 20 percent of all childhood cancers. At the Sarcoma Institute at Menorah Medical Center, our staff and physicians treat both children and adults in a multi-modality team approach, to provide the best care, education, and respect to our patients and their families.
